What is the 2FL?
2Fucosyllactose (2FL) is an oligosaccharide. It is the oligosaccharide present in high concentration in human milk (HMO: Human Milk Oligosaccharide).
The 2FL allows a certain number of microbiota species to find their niche and therefore ensure good microbiota diversity. In addition, 2FL could help either protect humans from pathogens or increase tolerance to infection by regulating bacterial genes responsible for virulence.
FUT 2 is the gene encoding an enzyme essential for the manufacture of 2FL.
If this gene is not present, 2FL cannot be synthesized.
In individuals carrying the non-secreting FUT2 mutation, we see a more or less drastic decrease in good bacteria and an increase in the level of pathogenic bacteria and fungi (E coli, candida, etc.).

Screening for polymorphisms of the non-secreting FUT 2 gene will offer a personalized possibility of restoring physiological functions in general, by substitution of the deficient molecule.
